Conference marks double anniversary

To mark the launch of the York Environmental Sustainability Institute, and in celebration of our 50th Anniversary and the Centenary of the British Ecological Society, the University of York is to co-host a major international conference.

Global Change and Biosphere Interactions on 8-9 April 2013 will feature talks from leading international academics covering current advances in our understanding of the past, present and future consequences of human impacts on the earth system.

The meeting will take place at the University of York Heslington West campus in the Berrick Saul building.

Focused on sustainable solutions to global environmental change, contributions will reach across disciplines, spanning physical, natural, social sciences and humanities to address the causes and consequences of global change and the implications for policy.

The meeting will offer extensive opportunities for the discussion of the role of interdisciplinary research in understanding the impacts of global change and the identification of new research which will to allow us to mitigate and adapt to these impacts.
